RAW ORGANIC CACAO BEANS
Raw Organic Cacao Beans, (raw chocolate) is rapidly gaining a reputation as an outstanding ‘superfood’, full of anti-oxidants, live enzymes, vitamins and minerals including high amounts of sulphur and magnesium.
Rawjuvenate has sourced the finest Certified Organic Peeled Criollo Cacao Beans from Peruvian Co-operative Cacao Growers, who stand behind this cacao. They are 100% raw, and are sun-dried. They are exactly the same as normal unpeeled cacao beans except with the shells off, ground into ‘nibs,’ moist and delicious.
Our Criolla Cacao Nibs are grown and produced in fair and humane ways - the people who grow and produce it are all friends and family. They do not torture or enslave anyone to grow their cacao. The Criolla Cacao Nibs are guaranteed to be free of microbes and impurities. Beware - because of the increasing interest in raw cacao, there is more ‘junk cacao’ appearing on the market. We only sell the purest wildcrafted or certified organic ‘superfoods’ and you be assured that Rawjuvenate Certified Organic Raw Cacao is the best of the best.
CACAO FACTS
Over 3,000 years ago, Mayans and Aztecs of the Americas cultivated and worshipped the cacao beans from the Cacao tree and at one time they used the cacao beans as money. The scientific name of the cacao tree’s fruit is ‘theobroma Cacao’ which means “food of the Gods”.
The genuine cacao tree is a small and handsome evergreen tree, growing in South America and the West Indies, from 12 to 25 feet high.
It requires a shady environment with protection from wind. The cacao tree has large glossy leaves that are red when young and green when mature. The tree sprouts thousands of tiny waxy pink clusters on the trunk and older branches. Only 3 to 10 per cent matures into full fruit.
The fruit has green, sometimes maroon coloured pods on the trunk of the tree and its main branches. Shaped somewhat like an elongated melon tapered at both ends, these pods often ripen into a golden colour or sometimes take on a scarlet hue with multi-coloured flecks.
The pods are harvested from the trees and broken open with machetes. The cacao beans are removed from the pods and are then dried.
Cacao has a wide range of anti-oxidant compounds called polyphenols, including procanidin, epicatechin and catechin. New research shows that cacao may prevent free radical damage, prevent heart disease, enhance your immune system, raise consciousness, stimulate the ‘youthing’ gene and give you a feeling of alertness and well-being.
Cacao beans contain phenylethamine (PEA), a ‘feel good’ chemical, that triggers the release of opiate-like endorphins and increases the level of dopamine, a neuro-transmitter directly associated with feelings of sexual arousal and pleasure.
No wonder chocolate is linked to seduction and love, AND that chocolates are given as a token of love or friendship.
Nearly all the women I know crave chocolate before or during a period. The extremely high levels of magnesium that cacao beans contain relaxes muscles, relieves cramping (uterine muscle cramps), alleviates depression and nourishes neurological pathways.
Magnesium and chromium are both extremely deficient in Australian women. Studies on the cacao bean have also shown cacao beans to be a great weight loss and high - energy food.
Heating or roasting the cacao bean, adding dairy products/milk or processed sugar produces the ‘unhealthy’ chocolate that most people eat and you only get a fraction of the 500 nutrients that are available in raw, organic cacao beans.
Experimental provings of chocolate by homeopaths, indicate its stimulating effect when cooked. One experiment conducted with a decoction of roasted ground cacao beans in boiling water produced an excitement of the nervous system similar to that caused by black coffee, an excited state of circulation, and an accelerated pulse. Interestingly, when the same decoction was made with raw, unroasted beans, neither effect was noticeable, leading the provers to conclude that the physiological changes were caused by aromatic substances released during roasting.
All of these facts are great news for chocoholics everywhere. Buy eating Rawjuvenate Certified Organic Raw Cacao, YOU can turn cravings for cooked chocolate into SUPER-NUTRITION.
